Another Rest Day in Porto

We decided to have another rest day today, to allow us to do some research as to what we were going to do next.

So we've decided to catch a train to Ragua (I think that's what it is without the map in front of me) which is about 150-200km east of Porto along the Douro River, which is the river that flows through Porto. East of Ragua is where all the vineyards are. They grow all the grapes there and then they get made into Port in Porto. So over the next few days we'll be riding along the Douro River in the Douro Valley and be in amongst all the vineyards. Should be good. In about 4 days we hope to hit the Spanish border.

Today we chilled out and did some more port tasting... met some lovely Canadian lasses who came on a cellar tour with us whom we told the secret to enjoying cheap port - the Port and TimTam Slammer. Anyone who's enjoyed this viciously wicked combination will drool just thinking about it.

We had a lovely lunch on the river where I tried the local tripe, Porto style. This bean and trip casserole was big enough for 2... I tried my best but just could't get it all down. Jen helped but she had her own fish to fry.

Porto is cool. Would definitely recommend a visit!

We've also spent some of today attempting to upload some photos. We've got some up on the blog and on facebook, but a lot of them didn't work for some stupid reason. I think my USB dongle is stuffed. There are lots of photos missing on the FB album but we've done the best we can.

Here are the links:

Volume 7 - Matt and Corina's Wedding

Volume 8 - None of the photos worked, so stay tuned folks!

Volume 9 - Lisbon

Volume 10 - Lisbon to Porto

That's all for now folks. Will write more when we get online next. Not sure when that will be.
